So, a month ago, you all know that I was in a horrific accident. Happily, I'm recovering well, and have a new car. Also, I'm now working towards a lovely respite over Memorial Day weekend in Tennessee. Huzzah! I'm working now like a madwoman to get all my sewing done in the next 7 days. :)
Also, after quitting my job (way too much stress and too little compensation for what I had to put up with), I have more time for faire, but no money for said faire. But oh well. Now I'm trying to find a job, and trying to keep making ends meet and still have time for me.
This past Saturday, I was involved in an extremely severe car accident, that, according to paramedics, should have killed me.
I was driving north on I-465, in the right lane, going 57 mph. A semi was on my left, and a merge lane was on my right, along with a black sporty sedan. The person in the sedan began to merge, heedless of me, into my lane, forcing me to swerve to avoid him hitting me. However, as I swerved, I immediately remembered the semi next to me. I attempted to get back on track, overcorrected and hydro-planed.
The black sedan tapped my bumper as he sped up to get around me, and sent me into a counter-clockwise spin, one and half rotations. As I spun, I crossed three lanes of traffic, then went off the shoulder, and hit the drainage grate on the edge of the ditch. At that point, my car went airborne, flipping once, pivoting around the driver's side, then landed on it's tires, instantly shearing the axles on the driver's side, and destroying the underbody. I thwacked my head on the driver's side window, but no bones were broken, and I walked away.
The most surprising part of all of this was that I never dropped the phone (sorry you had to listen to all of that, LDS) nor let go of the steering wheel.
But I am now certain that there is Someone upstairs watching out for me. And I just am now gunning for a speedy recovery of my nice bruise on my head and the small one on my left knee.
Well, it's now been three weeks since the most recent "dreaded incident". Those of you I talk to personally know what I mean.
I'm recovering as best I can, though my physical health might be suffering a little more than I'd like. Staying up till 3 or 4 sewing on new garb, drowning my fears and sorrows in the fabric and stitches. But on the plus side, I've got lots of new dresses.
I've started throwing myself into my chain as well, in addition to other projects to just keep myself distracted. But on a good level, I guess, I'm not depressed. Yet.
I thank you all for your support in this hard time, and I will continue updating you on how I'm coping with Fate's decision to triple-bitch-slap me.
I just want to thank everyone for their support. This is a very difficult time and I thank all of you who left me both comments and e-mails letting me know that you stand behind me in this troubled time.
I love you all, and you are all so kind and supportive. Thank you, again.
